I honestly don’t remember what year, or what series, but as I was digging through old photo collections I w as reminded of a trip to Boston where I was lucky enough to get a ride with a former co-worker who owned a classic Land Rover.

I’d miss the ability to use magnets, but otherwise it’s a great truck.

Series 2, I think. Definitely not a series 1, they have flat sides. And then the 2A has its headlights on the fenders, rather than in the grille.

Thanks, that was my best guess as I skimmed Wikipedia but I figured someone here would know and I was feeling lazy.

The Series 1 and 2 are the easiest to tell apart, when you get into the late series 3 V8s then Land Rover    90, 110 and 130 then Defender 90, 110 and 130 they get a bit samey. I’m a Land Rover owner and I’d say sort of a fan (apparently I’m not anymore because I like the new Defender... whatever) and I get confused constantly by them.

However, Range Rover wise I can tell them apart instantly and pretty much give you the year, internal code name, suffix (if it’s a Classic)  and all relevant specs from a good fifty metres away. Old Defender wise... no idea till I’ve actually looked under the bonnet or the badging (if it has any).
